Looking for a hidden gem prior to my last Okanagan visit, I decided to check out Trip Advisor and found that Vibrant Vines Winery was number one of 98 things to do in Kelowna. (Spotting Ogopogo on majestic Okanagan Lake is only number five). It is pretty hard to snub number one, so I made it a priority to reserve a tasting.

The winery is located on rolling land on the east side of Okanagan Lake. Their balcony provides a surreal view of vineyards, orchards, a golf course, and the lake painted in front of the hillsides of West Kelowna. A perfect setting for a small wedding but so much more!

As we entered the tasting room, we were greeted by a smiling hostess who produced some funky spectacles for us to put on. She invited us to tour the upper level to check out an amazing gallery of works by 3D artist Phil Lewis. His ability to mix nature themes in a digital medium will leave you awestruck. “Electric Fox” and “Wolf Song” were favourites among our group. You can purchase art prints at the winery but know that every wine label is one of Phil’s creations, so hang on to those 3D glasses.

The “elevated tasting” was ideal and included appropriate fare to pair with each wine. Their 2020 Rosé was excellent: a unique blend of Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Auxerrois, blushed with Merlot that is crisp and refreshing with fragrant floral notes. Their trademark white, “Whoops,” has a great story but I’m not telling. You’ll have to hear it from them.

At Vibrant Vines, you can connect with locals at various offerings. They host art and yoga workshops and have indoor and outdoor concerts over the season to enhance your total wine experience. If you are looking for a winery with an easy-going vibe that will enrich your artistic self, then this is the place for you.
