Three years ago, the residents of Calgary-Currie decided to place their trust in me, and Rachel Notley, to chart a new course for our province, one that leaves no Albertan behind. I remain humbled that you chose me as your representative to do this important work. And I want you to know that we are working hard to make sure this economic recovery reaches everyone—and that is exactly what this current legislative session is about, making life better one change at a time.

So far this session we’ve passed legislation to support the diversification of our traditional energy markets and also to help local businesses create jobs and diversify the economy in new sectors such as digital media and technology. And I was thrilled, after the work that so many had done on my Private Member’s Bill, to see it be reintroduced as government Bill 5, ensuring that parents and guardians have more options to plan for the long-term financial needs of family members with disabilities.

Right here in Calgary-Currie your government has been investing in our shared future. Last month I was pleased to open a new wheelchair lift at Good Companions 50 Plus Club in Killarney and announce that Spruce Cliff Downs will receive $250,000 to begin the work of planning for unit replacements. The final constituency week of spring session takes place May 21 to 25, please do not hesitate to schedule a meeting.

Last month I had the chance to attend The Rwandan Canadian Society of Calgary’s thoughtful commemoration of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide at Mount Royal University and again this May I am proud to be able to support the HIV Community Link Splash of Red Fundraiser.

After last year’s successful wiener dog rodeo, I am very excited to announce that the hounds will be back! I invite you to join me on Sunday, July 8th at my annual Stampede Breakfast and Wiener Dog Rodeo. Yahoo! This year the breakfast will be held at the Rosscarrock Community Centre from 9:00AM to 11:00AM. And for those interested in volunteering, please contact my office, as helping hands are always welcome!
