Good day, Chaparralians,

Good News

I am pretty excited about this one – our Community Cleanup has been secured for Chaparral. The date is June 11, 2023. We will be starting at 9:00 am and will be going till 1:30 pm-ish; this “ish” is to allow the garbage trucks to depart at 2:00 pm sharp. We will be monitoring the line ups and may need to close the line a bit earlier or may keep it open a bit later, depending on the volume. We will not have the green truck; we have noticed that with the adoption of the green bins, there was not really a big need for it at our cleanups. As usual, we will be trying to secure the metal recycling bins and we have sent out a request to a couple of other vendors to participate in the cleanup. We will be setting up at our usual spot – the overflow parking at the lake entrance.

This should be a fun event and we are looking for a few volunteers to come and help us to move traffic and the garbage materials swiftly to allow for efficient unload of the cars. Please message me if you would like to help out. There will be a volunteer orientation meeting at 8:30 am that morning to go over the instructions from the City crew and to have some coffee.

There will be a list of items that will not be accepted at the cleanup; we will be sharing this list once it has been finalized, but I expect, as in the previous years, that tires, paints, chemicals, and large appliances with freon will be some of the items that will not be accepted. More details on this will be released in the coming weeks (check our website for further details).

“One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.”
