Queensland’s December Message from the President

Presidents Message Queensland Diamond Cove

Happy holidays, everyone!

Here we are starting the month of December already. In my eyes, this is the most exciting time of the year. All the stores are a glow with decorations; busy patrons buying that special gift or surprise for their little ones; Christmas concerts at the churches, schools etc.; parties with friends and families spreading all the love of this holiday season and all the beautiful light displays through the neighbourhoods and the city.

At this time of year, the little kid seems to be in all of us. I just love having my great grandchildren over for snow fights, building snowmen, building snow forts, taking them skating or sledding. How can anyone possibly say that there isn’t anything to do. This is Canada, and this is our winter. Let’s all get outside and enjoy its beauty while we can.

While you are outside during the evenings, make sure that you drive through or have a brisk walk and look at some of the lights in our Queensland Diamond Cove Area. There are some really nice displays and I would like to thank our residents for taking the time to create such awesome light displays. It really does bring the glow and celebration of the Holiday or Christmas Season to life in our area.

This month we have one event to mark on your calendar and it is a very important one for all.

OUR 2018-2019 MEMBERSHIPS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER

Price is $20.00 per year.

Some of our executive and board members will be out selling our 2018-2019 memberships. Please support the community and help it to stay alive and prosperous. Each board member will have proper identification on them, so you will definitely know that they are representing us.

“I don’t have any kids who will use this center so why bother donating to this cause.”

I don’t know how many times I have heard this phrase since I have been President. Well, here are some events and reasons for you to think about buying a membership.

  1. It will help to keep our doors open.
  2. It will help to keep our incredible rink open and the second-hand equipment, used to make this rink available, working properly. Also, to keep our use of the rink for pleasure at no cost.
  3. We will be able to have more programs available for the children (some free programs and others at low prices)
  4. Discounts on children’s and adult socials (family dances, etc.)
  5. Reasonable prices for sports programs (pickle ball, badminton, etc.)
  6. Building upgrades and upkeep (grounds, etc.)
  7. Many other adult socials and programs.

The more support we can get the better programs we can have. It is so very important to have this community center keep its doors open. Without your support, we may not have a center at all or an incredible rink.

Anyway, back to more jolly topics. A special thank you to Linda for organizing the Craft Fair held in November and all of the venders and shoppers. The crafts are always beautifully done, and I marvel at all of the time and work people have put in to making such unique items. As usual, it was a great success.

Well, that is all for now. Remember the children are out for school holidays so please slow down while driving. This is an exciting time for them especially if they are heading over to skate or play hockey at the rink.

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas to everyone! Enjoy your families during this time. May your bellies be full, and your love radiate to all. Stay safe.

Until next time,

Judith
