101 and Still Having Fun!

In February, Glendale resident Ernesto Stamile celebrated his 101st birthday, with friends, family, and neighbours at his side. Ernesto and his wife, Mafalda, moved into their bungalow on 37 Street in 1967. The couple still gardens together, makes gnocchi from scratch, and enjoys a glass of homemade wine together. Ernesto walks on his treadmill daily and is an excellent artist, painting many landscapes and memories from his early life growing up in Italy.

Community Cleanup Day 2023

The Glendale Community Association is excited to be partnering with The City of Calgary for our annual Community Cleanup Day on April 23 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Glendale Elementary School parking lot. This annual event is an opportunity for residents to get rid of any unwanted items or household waste.

The City of Calgary trucks will accept organics, recyclable material, and black bin trash. The trucks will not accept car batteries, glass (e.g., window or glass tops), household appliances, microwaves, liquids (e.g., cooking oil), large metal items (e.g. BBQs, lawnmowers), sod or dirt, or household hazardous waste (e.g. propane tanks, paint, chemicals).

For more information, please keep an eye on our social media accounts as we get closer to the date or look for a reminder in the April Thumper.
