What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese art that explores the concept of Chi, the energy that flows in our space, life, and energy. It is around 5,000 years old. Feng Shui means “wind” (Feng) and “water” (Shui). It is pronounced fung sway. It promotes the balance of life through arranging objects, spaces in your life to create a sense of harmony and balance. Historically, Feng Shui played an important role in China, as it was used to find auspicious placements for buildings, dwellings. and tombs. The intention of Feng Shui, then and now, is to create balance, harmony, and to align the unseen energies that permeate through our lives and spaces – chi. We achieve that balance in BTB Feng Shui by using colours, symbols, elements, and objects.
Are there different types of Feng Shui?
Yes. There are many schools of Feng Shui. Landscape School of Feng Shui uses the specific landscape principles to balance energy. There are other types of Feng Shui, like the Flying Star, the Eight Mansions, and the Four Pillars. In the mid-eighties, the Western school of Feng Shui emerged in the U.S., one of which is BTB Feng Shui (Black Sect Tibetan Tantric Buddhism). BTB Feng Shui was guided by Professor Lin, and he created a fusion of Tibetan, Buddhist, Indian, Chinese, and Western ideas to create BTB Feng Shui for the modern Western world. Each type of Feng Shui is beautiful and unique in its principles. It is best to pick one type of Feng Shui school at a time that resonates for you, and to study and understand the principles of that specific school. It is best not to mix and match the theories from different schools.
Which type is best?
The type of Feng Shui that is best is the one that you feel interested in and connected to. Mine is BTB Feng Shui.
Does Feng Shui work?
This is an interesting question. Feng Shui is not magic. It is neither religion nor superstition. It has a historical and ancient grounding for those who have learned the knowledge and used it. In fact, there are three types of luck in our lives – heaven luck, earth luck and human luck. We are born with our own heaven luck: our family, time, birth, etc. Earth luck is the 30% that you can utilize to change your environment and, therefore, attract good tidings your way. This is where Feng Shui comes into play. Finally, human luck is something you create by your good actions and improvements as a righteous human being. Thus, it is the combination of all three that determines what happens in our lives, and the one part that we can maximize by 30% is through Feng Shui. Even if you do not believe in Feng Shui at all, by maximizing the energy, colour, and design of your space in your home, you will create a comfortable and energetically beautiful haven.
