Hello, Ward 1!

It’s November, and another year is almost over. It’s now been over a year since I was elected as your Councillor, and it remains just as much of a privilege to serve the residents of Ward 1 as it was a year ago. I want to thank my team in the Ward 1 Office for all their hard work over the past year. They do a tremendous job helping me manage the issues you raise, so please continue to get in touch with any questions or concerns you have about Ward 1 or the City.

This month, Council will spend a week deliberating on the 2023-2026 Service Plans and Budget. Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback through the City’s processes or to me directly. I will be fighting for a responsible budget that addresses the issues I’ve heard raised by Ward 1 residents. You can follow along with what’s happening at Council at agendaminutes.calgary.ca or on the Ward 1 website at Calgary.ca/Ward1.

This fall, I heard concerns about the safety of the intersection at Sarcee Tr and 34 Ave NW. Thanks to your feedback, we worked with the City’s Mobility Unit to install barriers and improve safety. Thanks to everyone who reached out with their concerns.

Community safety remains one of my top priorities as your Councillor. I’m working with City Administration, Calgary Transit, the Calgary Police Service, and other partners to address rising crime in Calgary. You can help ensure we have the most accurate info on crime trends by reporting crimes online at calgarypolice.ca or by calling the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. In an emergency, always call 911.
