Greetings, Constituents!

With spring in the air, the fourth session of the 29th legislature is in full swing. I have been working hard to make your voices heard. In March we debated the 2018 budget and among other issues, I brought forward a petition regarding reinstating injured wildlife rehabilitation in Alberta. Some budget priorities I am voicing to the Finance Minister are regarding increased funding for more resources towards prevention of mental illness and addiction and indexing AISH to the rate of inflation.

As always, I am attentive to Alberta Healthcare and how we can improve it. A new factor we must consider is the legalization of marijuana coming this summer. Although some provincial legislation has been passed, more debate and clarification are needed. I remain concerned the minimum age for cannabis is too young. I will continue advocacy for future cannabis revenue to be invested into mental illness and addiction prevention. I host town halls on issues like this regularly to hear your thoughts, so stay in touch and please be a part of it! The summary recommendations and letter I wrote to the Associate Minister of Health from my last town hall on Youth Mental Health and Addiction are available on my website.

Please do not hesitate to call my office to make an appointment with me or my staff. We are here to answer any questions and provide resources regarding advocates, petition guidelines, AISH, AB Works, MEP, WCB, seniors, health, mental health, addiction supports and any other provincial government programs and services. Also, by appointment, I can certify and notarize many documents as Commissioner of Oaths.

Please save the date for our 51st Annual Pathway & River Cleanup Event! This year’s event will take place on Sunday May 6, 2018. Calgary Mountain View is assigned to Z8-11 (Bridgeland, Renfrew) on the Bow River. Please RSVP our office and let us know if you want to join us.
