As we move into February, we can anticipate days that are growing a little longer, cold days when we can stay home and watch the world from our window, or a visit from grandkids or family over teachers’ convention and Family Day. This year during our shortest month, we can also celebrate one extra fun-filled Thursday afternoon to enjoy cards and games, courtesy of the 2024 Leap Year.
Every Thursday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30 pm seniors from neighbourhood communities gather at Mid-Sun Community Centre to enjoy cards, games, chat, and laughter. We learn new games together in a relaxed, accepting atmosphere and revisit old favourites over a cup of tea or coffee and snack. Small donations are accepted. If you are new to the community or searching for a new activity, our group would welcome you to join in.
Pub Nite: Not only do we meet for cards, but we also gather for Pub Nite once a month at local venues. Tentatively set aside Tuesday, February 20, 5:00 to approximately 7:00 pm, for dinner with us. We plan our evenings to take advantage of daily specials, but you are always able to order your favourite from the menu. Each participant is responsible for the bill for their meal. Wiener Roast: If you are feeling nostalgic about summer activities, we have the solution for you. On February 24, we will host an afternoon, outdoor wiener roast, complete with hot chocolate and marshmallows, at the patio adjacent to the community hall. Last year’s event was well received. Plan to join us this year!
Varied events and outings are scheduled throughout the year. Our senior’s committee is in the process of planning for the late winter, spring, and early summer. Stay tuned for future events.
