New Braeside Planter Benches in the Ecosanctuary
The Braeside Community Association was fortunate to obtain
approval from the Calgary Foundation for a Neighbour Grant this summer with the
Federation of Calgary Communities acting as our sponsor.
This funding is extending our Ecosanctuary project space
behind the community building in some exciting directions, allowing us to build
an amphitheatre for community gathering, a community garlic bed in partnership
with the Calgary Horticultural Society and adding additional vegetable garden
boxes.
Work has started on the first objective with the building of
planter benches for the amphitheatre seating. We held four building sessions
this past week and as of Saturday, we have two
planter-bench-planter-bench-planter configurations almost ready for
installation.
It takes a united team plus funding to make this sort of
do-it-yourself building project happen so thanks to Nathalie, Jessica, Mike,
Matt, Stewart, Ivy, Brenda, Joy, Jonathan, and Max from the Ecosanctuary team,
as well as the Calgary Foundation (Julie) and The Federation of Calgary
Communities (Pooja).
