Downtown East Village Crime Activity was Down in January 2024

Downtown East Village Calgary experienced 26 crimes in January 2024, in comparison to 38 crimes the previous month, and 32 crimes in January one year ago. The Downtown East Village community has an average of 36.6 crimes per month. On an annual basis, Downtown East Village had a total of 439 crimes as of January 2024, which is up 27% in comparison to 345 crimes as of January 2023. Total Downtown East Village community crimes is calculated as the sum of break & enters (dwelling, commercial, and other premises), theft from vehicles, theft of vehicles, assaults (nondomestic), commercial robberies, street robberies, and non-domestic ‘other’ violence.

Downtown East Village Calgary had 0 break and enter (B&E) crimes in January, in comparison to 0 B&E crimes in December and 8 B&E crimes in January 2023. On an annual basis, Downtown East Village had a total of 13 B&E crimes as of January 2024, which is down from 34 B&E crimes as of January 2023.

Downtown East Village had 2 vehicle related crimes (theft of or theft from vehicles) in January 2024, in comparison to 3 vehicle related crimes in the previous month, and 8 vehicle related crimes in January 2023. On an annual basis, Downtown East Village had a total of 75 vehicle related crimes as of January 2024, which is down in comparison to 79 vehicle related crimes as of January 2023.
