Member Appreciation Night Celebrates
Community Spirit
The De Winton Community Association was
delighted to welcome 37 members and volunteers to this year’s Member
Appreciation Night on April 22—an evening filled with great conversation,
delicious snacks, and a shared celebration of the people who make our community
so special.
The highlight of the evening was the
presentation of the A. Walter Turnbull Award, which recognizes individuals who
have made significant and ongoing contributions through volunteer service. This
year, the award was proudly presented to Mel and Shirle Ternan, whose decades
of dedication have had a lasting impact on both the DCA and the broader
community. From leadership roles on the Board to spearheading projects like the
Birchwood Early Learning program and supporting countless initiatives, their
commitment continues to make De Winton a better place.
In addition to the award recipients,
members also submitted a second nomination recognizing Mike Kosinec for his
outstanding contributions. With over eight years of service on the Board, Mike
is known for his hands-on approach, tireless work ethic, and willingness to
step in wherever help is needed—whether it’s maintenance, event setup, or
supporting new initiatives. His genuine care for others and deep commitment to
the community were warmly acknowledged during the evening.
A special thank you goes to Donna Fracchia
for the fabulous trays of appetizers and treats, which were enjoyed by all and
added to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the evening.
The event also served as a heartfelt thank
you to all of the volunteers who give their time and energy throughout the
year. From organizing events and maintaining the Hall to supporting programs
and lending a helping hand wherever needed, these efforts are the foundation of
a vibrant and connected community.
Thank you to everyone who attended and to
all who continue to contribute to making De Winton such a wonderful place to
live. We look forward to seeing you at future events!
