We would like to take a
moment and thank everyone who made our AGM a priority. We did have to wait for
15 minutes to have our quorum, but it gave us a chance to catch up with our
board and the guests that were in attendance. Thank you to our CSSD Trustee
Chantelle Dur for being able to attend and briefly talk about the High School
they are building in Seton. I know it will play an important role for all
Auburn Bay Students. For anyone who wants to be involved in the community,
please note our monthly online meetings are open to everyone. They are held online
on the second Wednesday of the month, please see our website and Facebook pages
for the links.

We did have one new
resident in attendance at the AGM, and they indicated they were not aware that
Auburn Bay has two organizations. So, we would like to remind everyone that the
Community Association (CA) is the group of volunteers that donate their time
and efforts towards all items outside of Auburn House and the lake. The
Residents Association (RA)/HOA is the not-for-profit group set up by the
developer to own and operate the community assets of Auburn House, the lake,
and the decorative community corners. Please check out either the CA or RA
website for a full list of the items each group is responsible for.

The landscape architect
has resubmitted the revised plans for the development permit as the City had
one question regarding. Our excitement over having a Shade Structure that we
can access for additional events is growing. We have been approached by a
number of groups on workshops they would like to host, and this structure will
be helpful in seeing them happen. We will probably have to figure out a booking
system as it grows, as we can see it being used for outdoor classrooms for the
schools, family potluck dinner nights, concerts in the park, and other outdoor
events.

In addition to the ABCA
hosting a Casino, the Auburn Bay School has been given May 7 and 8, 2026 for
their casino, and we have offered to share this with the community as they are
still in need of some volunteers. So please
check out www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D4EA8AA28AAFE3-62882363-2026#/
to
sign up for your spot(s) or see their Facebook post.

We have confirmed that
our next ABCA casino will be September 18 and 19, 2026 at the Deerfoot Inn. We
are just preparing to share the sign up for the event, please ensure to follow
us on Facebook and check out our website. These fundraising events are so
important to us and the schools. We are looking to pull together other
incentives for our volunteers as one person indicated that one shift covered
can mean as much as $2500 or just over $300 per hour for an eight-hour shift in
revenue to the organization.

Cristina R. has been
officially elected to the board and will be our official Newsletter Director
and will be helping with our monthly communications with residents as well.

Officially, all of the
large beds at the Community Gardens have been reserved for the upcoming
2026 year. If you are interested in being added to the waitlist, please ensure
to email [email protected] and we will add you to the list.

The Community Gardens
will be hosting a Fundraising BBQ on May 23, 2026 as part of the annual Auburn
Bay Parade of Garage Sale to be hosted by
Shannon Sperle. As part of this
event, we are potentially looking to partner with the Youth Central group to
have ability to connect with youth from our community. I didn’t realize the
great organization they are until after my kids were done high school.

Since we hadn’t gotten
anyone to step forward to volunteer for the Good Food Box depot, we made the
difficult decision to officially close it effective March 14, 2026. We would
like to thank everyone for your support these past six years. We were able to
confirm that the Seton and Rangeview HOA’s will still be open for the program
and willing to accept any customers sent to them. The other two
personal/volunteer depots advised me that they would be closing as well, due to
time constraints. We felt that with the two HOAs they have set business hours
and employees which would be better suited for the continuation of the program.

Auburn Bay has a large
number of Facebook groups. There is a Pet Group, Seniors Group, Grillers Group,
Ladies Group, Food Lovers Group, Gardening Group, Community Garden Group,
Ladies Clothing Exchange Group, Business Group, Buy-Nothing Group… the list is
nearly endless. Make sure to go and check these fabulous interest groups out.
