Queensland Diamond Cove Community
Association President’s Message
Hello,
This will be my last message to you. I have
hopefully been replaced by another fine Queensland Diamond Cove community
member. It has been a pleasure representing you over the past two years. I have
had the opportunity to meet quite a few individuals within our community and
feel happy to have met all of you. You will still see me around as I still have
the casino director position for another year. By the way we are still looking
for volunteers to help with our Casino May 25 and 26 at the Deerfoot Inn and
Casino. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/904044FABAB2FA5F49-2022.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped with
our Spring Fling children’s party: Julie R., Esteban, Julio, Emilia, Lily, Eva,
Roy, Kingor, Linda, Sawyer, Brian, Hunter, Bob, Nevelda, Martine, Jeff, and all
the families who helped clean up when the function was over. Many hands make
light work. We would also like to thank the City of Calgary for their grant for
this event. The children and their parents had a great time, thank you to the
Easter bunny for attending.
I would like to thank all of the board of
directors for their tireless work in keeping our community active. I would like
to single out a few individuals who are not always visible to all but do a lot
for the community and the centre.
Roy Reid, our maintenance manager, keeps
our community centre building running smoothly. You can thank Roy for
shovelling the sidewalk, cleaning the parking lot in the spring, and for being
a jack of all trades. Did you notice that our eaves troughs did not form
icicles this winter? This is because Roy suggested that we invest in heat tape
to keep the water running along the eaves.
Aaron Pang and his crew helped maintain our
ice rink, without them we would have nowhere to skate in the winter.
Carmen Bezold, who is our building cleaner,
thank you for all you do.
Linda Brown, thank you for being the first
person that people meet when they come to our community centre. Thank you for
always picking up the slack and performing many jobs that go unnoticed. We see
you and we would all be lost without you. Thank you for allowing our children
to come in to use your phone, the washroom and to refill their water bottles.
Thank you for being the kind face of the community, we are so fortunate to have
you around.
Nevelda Sands thank you for your help over
the years as our treasurer, we are happy now that Eva Reid has transitioned to
her new role of treasurer. Thank you Nevelda for being a phone call away if we
need your support with our finances.
