Street Sweeping

Annual street sweeping has been scheduled for
May 4, 2026.

Parade of Garage Sales

A day of coordinated garage sales in Discovery
Ridge on June 6 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. What a great way to clean out your basement
and your garage! More details to follow soon.

Community Cleanup

Join us for the annual event on June 13, 2026,
at the Westside King’s Church parking lot from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Hosted by the
Discovery Ridge Community Association, Springbank Hill Community Association, and
Signal Hill Community Association. We still need a few volunteers, please email
[email protected]. For updates, visit discoveryridge.com/events.

Safety and Security

The DRCA is working with the City of Calgary
and Calgary Police Service on potential traffic calming and safety measures in our
community. Check out this month’s Letter from the Board for more details! If you
observe any traffic-related concerns, please report them through the CPS non-emergency
line 403-266-1234 or by contacting 3-1-1.

Stampede Round-Up

Save the date for the Stampede Round-Up on
June 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Discovery Ridge Recreation Facility! Enjoy
western themed games, a petting zoo, tasty food trucks, live music, and a fun photo
center! Big thanks to our amazing sponsors—see the full list at discoveryridge.com/stampede-roundup.

New Special Events are being considered. If
you have any suggestions or want to join our Special Events team message [email protected].

Fundraising

Bottle Shack

Your donated refundables make a real impact
in our community! Your empty beverage containers help fund essentials like electricity,
water, and operational costs for the recreation facility, and support events that
bring us together. In early April, we completed the first unload of the bottle shack,
and every donation counts. Thank you for turning your empties into something meaningful
for our neighbourhood!

Casino

The DRCA has secured casino fundraiser dates
for July 30 and 31, 2026, and we need your help to make it a success! This is our
biggest fundraiser, with the last one raising an amazing $89,995.30 for our community.
Funds directly support the DRCA Recreation Facility, keeping our community spaces
in top shape. Contact https://www.volunteerconnector.org/calgary/discovery-ridge-community-association
to volunteer for a shift and meet your neighbours!

Recreation Facilities

Dedicated Discovery Ridge volunteers maintain
the community’s tennis, pickleball, roller hockey, skating, and hockey facilities
year-round. To ensure our park remains enjoyable for everyone, we kindly ask all
users to keep the area clean by using the provided waste receptacles. Over the winter,
a significant amount of garbage was left behind, particularly by the benches and
on the rink. Please do your part to keep our community spaces beautiful.

Rink Update – Summer Use

Continued maintenance is planned for the boards
and netting. Pickleball and roller-hockey equipment will be installed when warmer
weather settles in.

Tennis Courts

New this season, our tennis courts will have
locked gates with a punch code for DRCA Members. The courts are getting more popular,
and this will help ensure they’re available for members. We’ll share details on
how to access the code once it’s active. Not a member yet? Join for just $25 at
discoveryridge.com/membership. We will be replacing the tennis nets and performing
other maintenance as required. See you on the courts soon!

Solar Panels for the Recreation Facility

The DRCA resubmitted an application for a funding
grant to ClimateReadyYYC on March 31 and should know if we received the grant by
June 1. If you have experience with solar panels and would like to help out, please
contact us at [email protected].

Planning

The DRCA continues to advocate for pathway
access related to Clearwater Park and pathways, with the demolition of the old Highway
8 bridge and the absence of a pedestrian pathway. Discussions are ongoing to explore
restoration and improvements for the Elbow Valley wetlands following the wetlands’
removal during ring road construction. In addition, potential pathway connections
to the Taza communities from 69 Street SW remain under consideration in future development
plans, which could improve walking and cycling access to the east.

Communications

The DRCA board strives to keep the community
informed through various communication channels. DRCA members receive regular emails
featuring updates, alerts, and important community information. Much of this content
is also shared on our Facebook page, website, Instagram, and via the Ridge Review
newsletter mailed to every Discovery Ridge home. If you have any questions or need
assistance, please feel free to reach out at [email protected].
