Parade of Garage Sales

bargains, and hidden gems. With garage sale tables set up throughout the community
and steady crowds all morning long, the event was a huge success!
Missed it this year? Don’t worry – the 2027 Parade
of Garage Sales will be back and bigger than ever.

New Special
Events — Help Shape the Future of Fun!
The best communities are connected communities
– and special events are a huge part of what makes Discovery Ridge so special.
We’re looking for fresh ideas, new energy, and
volunteers who want to help create events that today’s families, couples, teens,
and residents will truly enjoy. Whether it’s food trucks, movie nights, fitness
events, cultural celebrations, adult socials, or something totally new – we want
to hear your ideas!
You won’t be doing it alone. Past event chairs
and the DRCA Board are ready to support you every step of the way.

Fundraising
Casino Fundraiser
July 30 and 31
This is our community’s biggest fundraiser of the
year — and it has a direct impact on the recreation facilities we all enjoy.
Every volunteer shift helps generate approximately
$2,300 to $2,500 for the DRCA, contributing to the nearly $90,000 we typically raise
through this event. Those funds go right back into our neighbourhood amenities,
including the:
·
Hockey rink,
·
Tennis courts,
·
Pickleball court,
·
Ball hockey facilities,
·
Recreation programming and maintenance.
The best part? Volunteers consistently tell us
they have a great time meeting neighbours and working together for the community.
If you’ve ever wondered how to make a real difference
in Discovery Ridge, this is it.

Volunteering
Discovery Ridge didn’t become one of Calgary’s
most admired communities by accident.
It was built by passionate neighbours, dedicated
volunteers, and people willing to step up and make a difference. From recreation
facilities and events to advocacy and beautification, volunteers are the heart of
this community.
Whether you have a few hours a month or want to
take on a larger role, there’s a place for you here.

Safety And Security
Traffic and Speeding
The DRCA Board has officially applied for a program
aimed at addressing speeding concerns within our neighbourhood. Resident safety
remains a top priority, and we’ll continue to keep the community informed as progress
is made.
Bears and Bins
We know many residents remain concerned about early
garbage collection times during bear season. The DRCA submitted a request to the
City of Calgary to adjust pickup times; unfortunately, the request was denied.
Please continue to do your part by keeping bins
secured and only placing them out as close to pickup time as possible.
Recreation Facilities
Our recreation facilities are one of the things
that make Discovery Ridge truly special – and they are maintained year-round by
an incredible team of dedicated volunteers.
Recently, we’ve seen an increase in garbage being
left behind at the courts and rinks. Please help us keep these spaces clean and
enjoyable for everyone by using the garbage cans provided. Let’s show appreciation for the
volunteers who work so hard to maintain these amazing amenities.
Tennis Courts
The secret is out – Discovery Ridge has some of
Calgary’s best community tennis courts!
To help ensure DRCA members continue to have priority
access, a new lock system will soon be installed. Instructions for member access
will be shared shortly.
We’ll also be replacing tennis nets and completing
seasonal maintenance to keep the courts in top shape.
Not a member yet? Join today for just $25 per household
at discoveryridge.com/membership/.
See you on the courts this summer!
