President’s Message
You didn’t see my message last month due to
technical issues (and we thought such were a thing of bygone days)
With three more individuals that are
seeking positions on our Board, we can now turn our attention to building
events and programs for our site.
This month will be full of opportunities
where you can participate or give back to the community as a volunteer. You can
do both. We start on June 6 with the Parade of Garage Sales. Probably this
event creates the most queries in the year. For details, check our website. The
following Saturday (will be the tri-community cleanup event that will be held
at the King’s Church site. Again, this is an exceptionally popular event for
all three communities. Finally, the third event for our community will be the
Neighbour Day event being held on June 20. There will be food and bouncy
castles as well as other activities that families can enjoy together. This is
an excellent way to get to know your neighbours. That’s June. I am already
seeing volunteers signing up for our primary revenue source in August; our
nights as casino volunteers at the Cowboys Casino on August 9 and 10. I thank
you for your contribution in advance.
Which brings me to two questions… As we can
build into some programming activity what sort of offerings would interest you?
Would you participate in these? Additionally, would you be willing to volunteer
in support of your suggestion? We have done a lot of programs over the last few
years, and I would like to measure and what sort of activities and events we
could provide. Rest assured Pedalheads and Pickleball are already on stream.
The Ward Six office also has town halls
(one is planned on June 15) and other public engagement pieces ongoing over the
next few months. Check out Calgary.ca/Ward 6 for more information.
Depending on when you receive Your Signal
Hill View, we will have one more Board Meeting until our summer break. As I
have said in the past, we are still alive and well during the summer. Feel free
to reach out to me if you need us. If one of us happens to be away someone will
reach out and respond. April wasn’t kind weatherwise. May and June’s weather
will help us out of our cocoon.
