President’s Message
Greetings,
May is upon us. I know many of us are
looking forward to a May long weekend without snow, a chance to start working
in our yards, and hopefully planting our gardens.
SBHCA Community Garden
May is the startup month for the SBHCA
Community Garden, located at Springbank Hill Community Park. A big thank you to
the SBHCA Community Garden Committee who make everything run so smoothly at the
garden!
Solastalgia
Simon Brame, a Springbank Hill resident and
SBHCA Community Garden Committee member, shares an excellent article entitled
‘Solastalgia’ in this edition of the newsletter. I encourage you to take the
time to read it. The piece is articulate and timely. Given all the development
in our community, understanding Solastalgia is now more important than ever.
SBHCA Planning and Development
SBHCA has been very busy on the Planning
and Development front, including:

The City of Calgary Rezoning
hearings were held the week of March 23. Stephen Carter-Edwards presented on
behalf of SBHCA. If you are interested in receiving a copy of Stephen’s
presentation, please contact [email protected].

Proposed residential
development over the next few years on Springbank Hill is over 5,000 units.
This is significant, as we currently only have 4,900 homes (as per Canada
Post).

SBHCA has created a Planning
and Development Terms of Reference document to help navigate development in our
community. Below please find the QR code which will take you to our website
with all the details. If you want to have an impact on development on
Springbank Hill, we encourage you to become a member of the SBHCA Planning and
