Senior Moments
Woodcreek Seniors group celebrated their
25th Anniversary at the Woodcreek Community Centre on May 5, 2026. The luncheon
was attended by 50 members and catered by Leroy Catering Services.
Cec Jahrig, past WCA President, spouse of a
founding member (Sheila), and our group’s Treasurer, presented the history of
the Seniors group, significant support, and events during the 25 years. In
2001, The Seniors group started with 15 members for the first two meetings and
has grown to the current membership of 70 to 80 members. Two of the founding
members currently remain group members – Marie Despins and Joan Davies were
acknowledged and given floral bouquets.
Thanks and gratitude were expressed to the
various persons, businesses, and groups that have supported the seniors. This
includes founding members, group members, Woodcreek Lions, Scouts, community
businesses and members, and the Woodcreek Knitting group. A special thanks was
extended to the Woodcreek Community Association and Keith Cartmell, WCA
President, for their support throughout the years, and financial donation
($800) to the Anniversary Luncheon.
The Woodcreek Seniors’ meetings are
scheduled on the first and third Tuesday of each month, and meetings begin at
9:30 am. We are extending an invitation to seniors in the community to attend
one of our meetings. Come, meet us, have a coffee, and see what the group can
offer. We welcome all seniors to our group.
