I always enjoy fall, the air is
crisp, the leaves are beautiful, and the bugs are gone. It is my favorite time
of year to go on walks through Marda Loop communities.
The MLCA Community Hall
Revitalization Project is essentially complete, and the hall is now open for
business, including community programs, activities and hall rentals. I’d like
to take this opportunity to thank MLCA Board member Tami Cormack for her role
with providing MLCA input to the project, as well as Westcor Construction and
Stantec for their roles with project construction.
If you aren’t already a MLCA
member, I recommend you sign up. For a reasonable cost, you get access to a
number of activities and programs, as well as a long list of local vendor
discount programs. You can access information on fall programs through The Source
or the MLCA website. There are a number of options for family members of
all ages.
The MLCA Annual General Meeting is
scheduled for October 21 in the upper hall of the community centre. It is your
opportunity to gain an understanding of MLCA activities, and an opportunity to
submit your name as a candidate for a Board Directorship position. Being a
Board member is fulfilling, and is a great way to meet your neighbours.
The MLCA Sponsorship team is
actively pursuing opportunities to raise funds for future MLCA capital
projects. We are canvassing local businesses for common interest opportunities,
including selling space for advertising banners on the hockey/volleyball boards.
There is also a donate function on the MLCA website.
Welcome to new MLCA Facilities and
Program Coordinator Christine Aryee. Christine is a great addition to the team
and will be working out of the MLCA offices. She will also be available to
support community needs and questions. I’d also like to thank MLCA Board
Treasurer Andrea Kruchten who capably stepped into the Facilities and Program
role while we worked to fill the role.
I hope you enjoy fall as much as I
do.
