Glendale President’s Message for June

Glendale cn

Good day, Glendale!

How is it already June again? It feels like
we were just digging out from winter, and now suddenly the days are stretching
so long that “bedtime” has become more of a suggestion than a rule. For
parents, you may once again find yourself delivering the classic line: “Yes, I
know it’s still light out… but it’s definitely bedtime.”

June in Canada is a pretty special time of
year. Not only are we heading into summer, but we also get to enjoy the longest
day of the year—the summer solstice—around June 20. That means more daylight to
enjoy evening walks, backyard BBQs, and (for the ambitious among us) finally
tackling that yard work project we’ve been putting off since April.

For kids, June is pure magic. The countdown
to the last day of school is officially on, backpacks are getting lighter (or
at least less organized), and summer plans are starting to take shape. Whether
your plans include travel, lake days, camps, or just relaxing at home, I hope
everyone is looking forward to a well-earned summer break.

Speaking of summer, we have one of our
biggest and most loved events just around the corner:

Annual Glendale Stampede Breakfast –
Saturday, July 11

Our beloved Stampede Breakfast is back and
shaping up to be another fantastic community event. It’s always one of the
highlights of the year—great food, music, conversation, and a chance to catch
up with neighbours you may not have seen since… well, last year’s breakfast! Be
sure to mark your calendars and bring your family, friends, and
neighbours—everyone is welcome.

We also need volunteers to help make it
happen.

These events don’t come together without
community support, and whether you can spare an hour or a morning, it truly
makes a difference. From flipping pancakes to helping with setup or cleanup,
there’s a role for everyone. If you’re able to lend a hand, we’d love to have
you join the team: https://glendale.getcommunal.com/volunteer-opportunities.

As always, it’s your participation—whether
volunteering, attending events, or simply staying connected—that keeps our
community strong. Glendale continues to be a welcoming, vibrant place because
of the people who step up and get involved.

Wishing everyone a fantastic June filled
with sunshine, long evenings, and maybe even perfectly timed rain for those
trying to keep their gardens alive.
